We aRe HER- A Leadership Academy

We aRe HER Leadership Academy is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering girls, women, and families through leadership, mentorship, culinary education, and community outreach. Founded by Executive Chef Latasha Cummings, We aRe HER cultivates confidence, character, and career readiness from the kitchen to the classroom. Signature programs include Queens in Training (leadership for girls ages 5–17), Youth Culinary Corner (hands-on cooking and STEM), The HER Table and Cooking Up Connections (adult culinary cohorts), and Golden HERoes (senior enrichment). The Why Me Program offers a safe space for mothers who have lost children, providing grief support, healing circles, and peer connection. Additional initiatives such as The Haven (mental wellness through creative expression) and the Community Connection Center (Free Food Fridays, hygiene drives, and resource events) expand the Academy’s reach across Forney, Mesquite, Terrell, and the greater DFW area. Partnering with schools, recreation centers, and sponsors like Grocery Connect, Sam’s Club, and Bimbo Bakeries, We aRe HER fulfills its mission to Develop, Empower, Equip, and Mentor—building confident leaders who uplift their communities one meal, one lesson, and one act of service at a time.
